I went to Rotterdam to do the publicity for the Rutger Hauer Filmfactory, and then I was in LA for Doris Yeung’s impressive feature debut Motherland. Now I’m back in Brooklyn, gearing up for Toronto.

I’ve tried updating this blog regularly, but now that Rutger and Doris got me FB’ing and Twittering, I might as well surrender. So blog-readers, please check out my Facebook and Twitter accounts for my most recent news. It’s fun to work on a genre film, which in the US is not as frowned upon by the press as in Europe, where arthouse is king. Speaking of which, Cannes is around the corner too and I’m getting ready to buy a French SIM card.

What with all that festival frenzy it’s important to relax too. Right now, I’m only do a bit of yoga at home with the help of some DVD’s and my cat Pushkin who likes to walk underneath me when I’m doing the downward dog. But for inspiration I head over to Stacie Stukin’s informative blog L.A. Mandala - Living La Vida Yoga.

I’m very sad about our friend Duane Jarvis, who died of colon cancer last Wednesday. We have fond memories of him staying at our place in Brooklyn, and the shows he played in New York and Europe. Click here for more info on donations. The LA Times and The Tennessean wrote eloquent obituaries.

I’m glad we were at least on the West Coast when he was still enjoying the Pacific Ocean from his room in Marina del Rey last week; I’ve posted some ocean pix on Flickr that I took there in his memory.

I was none too happy to discover that I needed to get fingerprinted and photographed upon arrival in the US from the Rotterdam and Berlin film festivals. I was singled out from the US Citizens queue by a harpy with a booming voice and sent to a special line for green card holders. In my experience, the mood at customs is very dependent on instructions from the White House. A few years ago, they suddenly got a lot friendlier than when the Iraq war broke out. Now I’m being yelled at again, and fingerprinted for the Nth time. They didn’t even say ‘Welcome home’, which always gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling. Obama has already signed off on visa restrictions for foreign workers. I don’t like the way this is going.

Now that I’m on Facebook, I’ll be updating this site less frequently. If you’d like to know what I’m up to, please drop by on FB.
